Wear long trousers to prevent ticks

Lovely walk, lots of interesting and varied scenery. We did it on a good November day and some short sections inland were very muddy

We've always done the hike the other way around to experience the highlights of the second part of the cliff hike. The original harbor is used for the village fishermen. A great experience to experience the joy of the fishermen from the fishing.

Cadgwith is a small fishing village forgotten by the 21st century, situated on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Fishermen still push their boats up the beach to catch shellfish and wet fish when the weather permits.

Lizard point was the busiest place we passed on our walk. You will find drinks and eateries, shops and toilets at the National Trust car park. Keep in mind that there are always a lot of people to visit this place.

The building complex of this lighthouse consists of two white octagonal towers, between which a number of buildings have been erected. Only the 19 meter high eastern tower contains a light house. In this lantern room is an electric light source and a first order revolving catadioptric system with four lens panels and a focal length of 700 mm. This optical system generates a white flash every 3 seconds that is visible up to a distance of 26 nautical miles (about 48 km). The light is 70 meters above sea level. Cadgwith Cove is a port and a beach at the same time. The easily accessible beach that you can see from the road is the domain of the fishing boats while the swimming beach is right next door, accessed by steep steps. There are plenty of rock pools to explore in this sheltered bay. The Cadgwith Inn is a 300 year old pub with links to smuggling in years gone by. Many a pirate would no doubt have frequented this hidden gem.

You need to be brave or crazy enough to visit the Devil’s Frying Pan when the sea and the wind are up to really appreciate the name given to this place. There is a well placed bench to sit on to help you appreciate the view. Take care in the bad weather though.

When it is foggy you can hear those fog horns for miles around. The sound is eerie and comforting at the same time. We did a walk from Lizard recently and that sound was our constant companion.

Beautiful location, with cafe, toilets and nearby car parking. It gets extremely busy during high season though.

Worth a return on a stormy winter's day!
