This route follows the Offa's Dyke Path through the trees high above the river to begin with and descends with it to the river near the abbey.

Off Clanna Lane, turn right onto this great gravel section, which takes you through a ford and past the large fishing pond, linking through to Woolaston Common. gravel bikes and mountain bikes are fine, and Ford is not too deep.

Fantastic byway cutting across from Woolaston Common avoiding the road last short section is footpath over a field so prepare to walk.

Small section along the Offas Dyke path. Right next to the historic Dyke. This section is absolutely stunning (in my view, at least!) The dyke is clearly visible (on your right, if you're coming down from the Devils Pulpit, and vice versa). It is within some absolutely stunning woodland, and you've got spectacular views of the wye valley nearby; not to mention the Devils Pulpit itself.

The Devil's Pulpit is a viewpoint and limestone rock jutting out from the cliffs high above the River Wye along the Offa's Dyke Footpath. It offers spectacular views over Tintern Abbey and the village of Tintern along the River Wye below and the walk is through stunning woodland following the ancient Offa's Dyke. Legend has it the devil preached to the monks below, tempting them to desert their order.
