Mikaszówka is more than just a lock. The Church of St. Mary Magdalene and the adjacent park commemorating the Augustów Roundup are also worth visiting.

The Paniewo Lock is the ninth lock along the 61st km of the Biebrza River and the only two-chamber lock on the Augustów Canal in Poland. The difference in elevation between Lake Paniewo and Lake Krzywe is 6.3 m.

In July 1945, Red Army units, with the help of the Polish Army and officers and collaborators of the Security Office, carried out a large-scale pacification action in the Augustów Forest and its surroundings, referred to as the Augustów Roundup. On the Soviet side, units of the 50th Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front, the Internal Troops of the NKVD and officers of the military counterintelligence "SMERSH" participated in the operation. Officers of the Public Security Office, the Citizens' Militia and local informants supported the Soviets' actions as guides and translators, and also assisted in interrogations. Soviet units searched the forests and villages, arresting those suspected of contacts with Polish independence partisans. We do not know the exact date of the beginning or end of the operation - it is most often placed between July 12 and 28. In total, several thousand people were detained, some of them imprisoned and subjected to brutal interrogation.

Studzieniczna – Parish of Our Lady of the Scapular The first historical mention of Studzieniczna dates back to 1740 and is connected with the cult of the image of Our Lady. The first hermit is anonymous. A more famous figure is Wincenty Morawski, who erected the first wooden chapel around 1770. The current Church was built in 1847. In 1872, the current Chapel of Our Lady was built on 64 oak piles. Initially, the parish belonged to the parish in Szczebrze. In 1873, the Bishop of Sejny, Bishop Piotr Paweł Wierzbowski, established it as an independent parish. On September 17, 1995, the act of coronation of the image of Our Lady of Studzieniczna, Mother of the Church, took place. The act of coronation was performed by Cardinal Józef Glemp – Primate of Poland, with the participation of Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk – Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Edmund Piszcz – Metropolitan of Warmia, Bishop Juliusz Paec – Bishop of Łomża, Bishop Juozas Żemartis of Mariampol, Bishop Wojciech Ziemba – Bishop of Ełk and Bishop Edward Samsel – Auxiliary Bishop of Ełk. The Paniewo Lock, one of 18 on the Augustów Canal, a facility recognized as a Historic Monument. It was created in the 19th century as a result of Prussian economic restrictions to provide a water route for transporting goods along the Vistula to the Baltic Sea. Today, it works great as one of the most interesting kayaking routes in Poland.
