lovely canal bridge, head left along disused section of canal to pick up old railway line towards newark.

An easily spotted landmark when riding the lanes west of Grantham. There's a great flattish run from Harby through the vale to Bottesford or ride up (and down) onto the ridge on which the castle stands for some great, short climbs.

Fantastic cafe, make it part of your route.

Friendly, cosy cafe in Goverton, near Bleasby. There are around 5 cycle racks with very small locks and key so you can lock your cycle up without worrying about it being stolen. The coffee and Chocolate orange cake were delicious! The tea shoppe has a beautiful enclosed garden full of flowers and wild birds. There is a toilet available to use. I would definitely recommend stopping by here for a coffee when on a ride. Visited in April 2025, opening hours are Wednesday - Sunday, 9am-4pm.

This fine old blacksmiths forge dates back to 1845 and has a horseshoe surrounding the entrance. It's a Grade II listed building.

A great route but some sections are extremely muddy but great fun. Toft hill climb is one section that really works legs, slow and steady wins out

NT doesn't encourage cycling in the wider estate, but it's straightforward to cycle through in either direction from the main entrance along the newly resurfaced mile long South Drive and through the (time controlled) pedestrian gate onto Belton Lane. Recently they've been giving out coffee vouchers to people arriving on foot or by cycle at the entrance booths near the car park. They're trying to encourage low carbon visitors.
