Whether you are mountain biking or walking this is a great place to be. We did all the Red Squirrel trail and found lots of places to stop off for something to eat. I did 3 video's last year. I regularly ride around the Isle of Wight once a year, and can recommend both the Military Road and the inland route taken by the "blue and white flags". In the warmer months of the year (April to October), I would suggest going on a weekday, when there is less holiday traffic.

The church originally dates from the 11th century in Norman times but was rebuilt during the Victorian Restoration. The celtic cross outside is from the 19th century and close by you will find the grave of Edward Edwards who helped establish public libraries.

This impressive gateway was once the main entrance to Appuldurcombe House. It is thought to have been designed by architect James Wyatt.

Take a moment to enjoy the peace and tranquility at St John the Baptist Church. Outside, the 19th century celtic cross is very impressive, while inside the font dates back to Norman times.
