ブルゴス県、リベラ・デル・ドゥエロの中心部にあるカレルエガは、この地域で最も美しい村の一つであり、その偉大な歴史的および精神的価値によって際立っています。なぜなら、ここはドミニコ会の創設者である聖ドミンゴ・デ・グスマンの生誕地だからです。最も興味深いのは、その石造りの中心部を巡り、聖人が生まれた場所に建つ王立サント・ドミンゴ修道院、グスマン家の修道院と塔、そして洗礼を受けたサン・セバスティアン教会からなるドミニコ会の記念碑的複合施設を訪れることです。

The size and state of preservation are impressive.

The hermitage is located in the Lomas de Cervera area, below Picacho and Pico Castro. An old early medieval town named “Talamanquiella” was probably located in this place.

Traditional tenada or shed built in stone and circular in shape known as loberas. They were used by shepherds to protect themselves when they accompanied their flocks through these fields. Currently, they have been rehabilitated creating an ethnographic museum or interpretation center to maintain the history of this place.
