The Campillo Lagoon is located in Rivas Vaciamadrid, within the Southeast Regional Park, about 20 km from Madrid. It is a protected natural area, ideal for peaceful walks and outdoor activities. Origin: Artificial, formed in the 1960s and 70s after the extraction of aggregates in the Jarama River basin. Water from the aquifer filled the excavations and over time became a wetland with great biodiversity.

Limestone quarries were a very common industrial resource in the towns of Las Vegas and Alcarria in Madrid from the mid-18th century. Pozuelo del Rey is a charming place with whitewashed streets, Arabic tile roofs and rural houses typical of the Alcarria region of Madrid, a quiet country town in the middle of a large agricultural plateau, established around the 16th century church of Santo Domingo de Silos, a transition from Gothic to Renaissance. The Plaza de la Constitución is an interesting space, the floor has coloured cobblestones and the decoration invites socialising. On one side is the Town Hall, with a stone column from 1669 and a stately coat of arms, it is the starting point for hiking routes in the municipality. Some of the streets are named after Pasión, Paraíso, Luz, Amargura, Paloma or Ánimas and a walk through the urban streets is a meeting of sensations. On a solitary hill outside the town is the superb neoclassical Renaissance style hermitage of the Virgen de la Cabeza.
