Gondola lift takes some getting used to. Something between a chairlift and a cable car...some of the gondolas are also designed as small cabins. Only 2 people fit in, plus a backpack or dog.

From Laveno Mombello, one of the most enchanting and picturesque tourist centers on the Lombardy shores of Lake Maggiore, comfortable two-person gondolas take you gently to almost the summit of Monte Sasso del Ferro. From up there you can admire a wonderful and enchanting panorama of Lake Maggiore, the Alps, the Pre-Alps and the Lombardy lakes. The Monte Sasso del Ferro is because of its cool summer breeze and its mild winter temperatures an ideal destination for pleasant excursions and quiet weekends in the silence of the green forests. The ride with the cable car takes about 15 minutes. At the valley station there is a bar, restaurant, hotel and shops with typical products and souvenirs. The take-off point for hang-gliders and paragliders is at the mountain station of the cable car.
