The Puente Navarro Reservoir is located on the middle course of the Guadiana River, within the province of Ciudad Real (Castilla-La Mancha). It is a hydraulic engineering project built in 1987 with the primary objective of flood control and flow regulation.

The railway reached Daimiel on 1 October 1860 when the MZA company opened the Manzanares-Daimiel section of the line that sought to link Alcázar de San Juan with Ciudad Real.4 In 1941, the nationalisation of the Iberian gauge network meant that the facilities became dependent on the newly created RENFE. During the 1970s, the route was electrified and entered into service on 28 November 1975.

The Tablas de Daimiel are a wetland that is practically unique in Europe and the last representative of the ecosystem known as river tables, once characteristic of the central plain of our Peninsula. It is a complex ecosystem that combines the characteristics of a flood plain, produced by the overflow of the Guadiana and Gigüela rivers at their confluence, with those of an area of discharge of groundwater from a large aquifer.

Malagón is located in the northern sector of the province of Ciudad Real. The town of Malagón is surrounded by a large plain that is interrupted to the northwest by the Sierra de Malagón. The Bañuelos and Becea rivers and the Tamujo stream bathe its term, all of them tributaries of the Guadiana. It is worth mentioning the presence at the foot of the aforementioned mountain range of three lagoons of volcanic origin: the Nava Grande, the Nava de Enmedio and the Nava Pequena or Chica. It is limited to the north by Los Cortijos and Fuente el Fresno, to the east by Daimiel, to the south by Fernan Caballero and Torralba de Calatrava and to the west by Porzuna and Retuerta del Bullaque.
