Regarding its history, the cross is a traditional symbol often associated with popular religiosity and the protection of the people. Although there is not much specific historical documentation about this cross, in Candelario it is common to find elements linked to Christian tradition, given that the municipality has a strong cultural and religious identity, also reflected in its festivals and architecture.

The Cross in Candelario Park is located in the municipality of Candelario, in the province of Salamanca (Castilla y León), within the town's Municipal Park. This park is a green space frequently visited by locals and tourists, and the cross is one of its most distinctive features, situated in an elevated area that offers views of the surrounding area.

This is the tourist and gastronomic area of Guijuelo, considered the birthplace of acorn-fed Iberian ham with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO Guijuelo). More than 150 ham and cured meat producers are concentrated here. The cold, dry climate of the Sierra de Béjar favors a slow, natural curing process, giving the ham a sweeter, more unctuous flavor.

You cannot leave Guijuelo without eating its famous ham! The town is famous for the high quality of its hams and sausages from Iberian pigs. Although the meat comes largely from Extremadura and Andalusia, here it finds the perfect place for its curing, thanks to a characteristic cold and dry climate.

Candelario Park is a beautiful place full of trees and a small beach bar in which to spend a pleasant summer afternoon after a little run. On the bench next to the cross you can enjoy a beautiful view of the town and the Sierra de Candelario.

The group of three crosses is located in the upper part of a mountain that presides over the town of Candelario. Originally there was only one cross. Due to the growth of the Pinos, a larger cross and a third cross were added to the complex in the sixties. On May 1, the pilgrimage to the Cruz del Herrerito is celebrated at this point.

Located at the top of some stairs that lead from the town hall, the church is not only the scene of Sunday mass, but also of performances such as the "Typical Wedding" held in August or the "Via Crucis" in Holy Week.
