Beautiful view of the wide countryside while descending a narrow trail

These fascinating geological formations, also known as scours, are a special feature of this river. Their formation is due to an erosive process caused by the turbulent flow of the water and the sedimentary material it carries. Irregularities in the riverbed, such as small depressions, bumps, or harder rock inclusions, can cause the water to swirl. These initial eddies create a rotating water movement with increased flow velocity and a grinding effect directly on the riverbed.

A small stone hut crouches on the mountainside, the grey slate stones are overgrown with moss in the joints, giving the hut the appearance of being a natural part of the landscape. A narrow path winds up the slope to the hut.

It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and served to regulate the water level of the Schwarza and to create an artificial tributary, the Lache.

Eberstein hunting lodge was built in the Moorish ruin style. It is located in the former wild boar enclosure, where wild boars were intensively cared for and hunted by the royal family until 1918. The cellar rooms were used to store game feed and there are still remains of a horse stable.
