The three-winged baroque palace (now an architectural and garden monument) was built between 1677 and 1689 and a spacious French-style garden was laid out. For over 100 years, this rural enclave served the Dukes of Gotha as a summer residence and pleasure palace. They spent their summer holidays here and celebrated their summer festivals here.
