The coastal road is in very good condition, the view is great and it goes up and down all the time :) Some pictures show paths without asphalt, they have nothing to do with the coastal road, you only drive there if you go straight down to it Beach wants.

This is a route started from Calahonda to the town of Salobreña. It is practically all flat except for the climb to the Sacratif lighthouse in Torrenueva, there is still a lot of traffic at the entrance to Motril and Salobreña, take precautions for the first time.

The N-340 is very busy in Motril and the asphalt is mostly not that good. The hard shoulder (like everywhere else) is full of grit and stuff that ruins the tires. I would avoid the N-340 here.

There is significantly more traffic on this (east) side as this is the main route to Orgiva. If you want to go north and don't necessarily want to drive to Orgiva and Lanjaron, you should stay west of the reservoir, there is significantly less traffic and a great view too.
