Here the GR 131 branches off onto the ridge facing the caldera, with a view of the Playa de Taburiente basin, torn apart by countless gorges.

If the weather is good, the short walk to the Pico de la Cruz is worth it. Great views across to Tenerife, Teide and Gomera, and if you're lucky you can also see El Hierro.

The Wall of Roberto On the island of La Palma, the legend of the Wall of Roberto (La Pared de Roberto) is told. Roberto, a young man from La Palma, was so in love with a girl from Los Llanos that he ran from Garafía to Los Llanos as often as he could. For his love, he crossed valleys, obstacles, forests and rocky outcrops. He ran with his heart filled with love and no path seemed too rocky or too long for him. The devil was seething with jealousy of the two lovers and of Roberto, who would take any path for his love. One day, when Roberto was on his way back from Los LLanos to Garafía, the devil decided to prevent the two lovers from meeting again. During the night, the devil built a huge stone wall that was so high and so compact and long that no one could cross it. When Robert wanted to return to his lover a few days later, he came across the wall and every attempt to cross it failed. Roberto sat down and tried to find a solution, but the more he thought about it, the more hopeless the situation seemed. The devil took advantage of Roberto's desperation and suddenly appeared in the forest in front of him. He offered to break through the wall. In return for the destruction of the wall, the devil wanted Roberto's soul. The young man only wanted to go to his lover and he didn't care about selling his soul. Roberto agreed and sold his soul to the devil. You can still see this wall and the hole that this legend tells of today. The devil was able to buy Roberto's soul, but he couldn't destroy the love of the two young people.
