Castellet is the most beautiful area of the Foix Reservoir, where it is worth taking good photos for the memory.

A classic stretch for cyclists in the area. Following the edge of the swamp, with ups and downs, it is a very pleasant area to ride a bike and ride with force and changes of pace.

The Foix marsh, along with Castellet castle, are the two main attractions of this area, border between Alt Penedès and Garraf. The road runs along one side of the marsh and if you come from Vilanova i la Geltrú, you will enjoy the spectacular views of the castle dominating the marsh.

Castellet Castle dates from the 10th century, originally little more than a large fortified house with a watchtower, it was intended to protect the Hispanic March of al-Andalus. Over time and the successive occupants it did not fall into disuse thanks to its strategic position between Garraf and Penedès. Today it is a tourist attraction, thanks to its state of conservation and its privileged location on the meander of the Foix River, today occupied by the Foix reservoir. There is a terrace bar, very popular with bikers and cyclists, just off the road.

The origin of this construction dates back to the 11th century, when it was a farmhouse. In the 19th century it was completely transformed, in the form of a historicist-style castle. The reforms were inspired by a wealthy owner from Bellver, who wanted to live with space but without losing sight of her original population. It is currently in a dilapidated state, although it retains some of the towers included in the reconstruction.

At the top of a hill, between the remains of the Castillo de Vespella and the church of Sant Miquel de Vespella, there is a splendid viewpoint from which to contemplate the town of Vespella de Gaià and part of the countryside of Tarragona.
