Castellet Castle dates from the 10th century, originally little more than a large fortified house with a watchtower, it was intended to protect the Hispanic March of al-Andalus. The Torredembarra lighthouse was lit for the first time in the year 2000. The reason for its construction was to cover the darkness between the Salou and Vilanova i la Geltrú lighthouses.
