The municipality of El Madroño is located in the extreme northwest of the province of Seville, bordering on that of Huelva. Its name comes from the large number of strawberry trees that were in the place. Since ancient times, it has been exploited for the mineral wealth of the region, in the case of the Tartessians, the Phoenicians and the Romans.
