One of the most beautiful villages in Alsace

After the French Revolution, it briefly served as the cathedral of a diocese and is sometimes still referred to as Cathédrale Saint-Martin. Today it serves as a parish church.

Beautiful old town tucked away. The decorative spire twinkling in the sunlight made us detour to take a look. So glad we did! Stunning town with numerous patisseries & cafes and plenty of places to sit in the sunshine & watch the world go by. Highly recommended 👌

Very impressive, beautiful restoration work

Beautiful castle and view over the Alsace to the Black Forest. The climb to it is tough and about 8 km.

The early medieval town was first mentioned in 877. The wine-growing village is located on the Alsace Wine Route on the Kafferkopf mountain. Ammerschwihr (Ammersweyer) is not at all or very little tourist-oriented. The old half-timbered buildings are unspoiled, with plenty of patina, and no tourists anywhere in sight; everything is very quiet, idyllic, and worth seeing.

I also drove up to the Col Haut-Kœnigsbourg yesterday. It was very beautiful; I had the D159 almost entirely to myself. A local told me that things will change dramatically after Easter, when the season starts again and many tourists will head to Château Haut-Kœnigsbourg and the Montagne des Signes.
