Annecy, and more specifically its old town, boasts a fantastic setting. The well-landscaped lakeside makes it easy to explore in complete peace and quiet.

Magnificent lake but watch out for people in high season!

Mostly a cycle highway which is good, but beware a lovely hot day in French holidays - it’s pretty busy. There are, however, points along the route where you could just park your bike and pop in for a swim (best on the quieter side of the lake) and plenty of opportunity. Lovely easy ride. Probably not for the speed merchant (too many doodlers get in the way).

Also called the Venice of the Alps, Annecy is a beautiful city with a medieval center

The “Pearl of the Alps”, the nickname of the very beautiful city of Annecy, is not usurped. It was the historic residence of the counts of Geneva in the 13th century, then of the counts of Savoy in the 15th century. Perhaps this is where its splendor comes from? Although it is influenced by the surrounding mountains, the presence of the lake alleviates the harshness of winter. Its old town with its cobbled streets, winding canals and brightly colored houses have earned it international fame. Lake Annecy is also very popular and attracts a lot of people in summer. There are many cycle paths in the town.
