The chapel overlooks the Rhône and the town of Yenne. It was built in the 19th century and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its monumental statue by J. Fabisch is a replica of the Virgin Mary from the bell tower of the Fourvière Chapel in Lyon.

I had a stop here on the Way of St. James, the GR65. I was given a very friendly welcome and had a very good dinner.

Nice hotel in Yenne. We stayed there on our long-distance hike from Tarifa (Spain) to Switzerland and can highly recommend the accommodation.

A 19th century fortress that was never seriously used. Incredible walls/ditches. Considering that this fortress was built to protect the nearby monastery from raids and attacks by the Austrians, one has to wonder how rich this monastery was. Unfortunately, both the fortress and the monastery cannot be visited. No matter, the fortress is also an adventure playground. If it hadn't been well over 31 degrees, we would have explored even more.
