The Fiumicelli is worthwhile for everyone who is enthusiastic about a river and pool hike in a picturesque landscape. The steps and waterfalls can usually be overcome by children, which is why it is very suitable for families. Special rafting equipment is not necessary, but neoprene is recommended for children and, depending on swimming ability, a buoyancy vest or swimming aid for the few pools that can only be swum through. If you like it a little more extensive, you can leave the entrance to the Fiumicelli on the D268 on the right and follow the road first to the south and then roughly further in a north-westerly direction to the Rocchin Pinzutu. There is an entrance to a small hiking trail, which crosses the Fiumicelli further up. From here you can reach the larger waterfalls north of the Punta the Petra Facciata, or follow the river down and then after about 3.5 km (about 2.5 km on the map) and some very nice pools, waterfalls and gorges you get back to the entrance to the river on the D268.

Very beautiful refuge, sheltered from the wind and the boldness of the ridges that surround it. We had a nice meal break there, but if we had arrived later we would have spent the night there with pleasure. Be careful, because there is almost no shade on the refuge site!

The stream hike through the Fiumicelli up to the pools beyond which you can no longer go any further (only the guided cayoning tours come down from above) is worthwhile for all ages. In the lower part there are shallow stream sections where even small children can have fun. Further up there are sometimes more challenging climbing sections in the stream, or sometimes parallel along the slopes to avoid the large rocky steps. For us, one of the most beautiful stream hikes with all levels of difficulty. In the middle of the section there is a beautiful pool into which you can jump wonderfully from a large rock (always check the water depth critically beforehand!). In the upper part, in a narrow rocky gorge, there is a magnificent view of the mountains as well as a funny exposed rock outcropping. Afterwards there is another pool that can be climbed over a waterfall, then the further path is blocked by a long slide that can only be slid down from above but cannot be climbed from below. As equipment, we recommend a neoprene shorty, non-slip bathing shoes or five-finger toe shoes, a small backpack with a waterproof stuff sack for food, drink and a first aid kit.

The refuge is very nicely located with a wide view to the east. Unfortunately, during our stay, it could only be guessed at because of the heavy fog.

One of the best views of all the refuges on the GR20. A well-stocked grocery store is available. Those who are early still have a chance of finding the campsites with the best views.
