Now home to the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art, it was once the dynastic residence of the Viscounts of Rochechouart. The keep, built in the 11th century, is surrounded by the remains of a 15th-century building.

Footbridge which allows you to cross the Charente, which swells the waters of the beautiful Lavaud Gelade lake. It is one of the largest lakes in the Creuse, after Lake Vassivière. Wilder than the latter, it is located in the heart of the Millevaches Regional Natural Park and is classified as a Natura 2000 area.

The exterior of the castle is impressive. It is built on the basis of a square, each corner of which is protected by a tower. The moat surrounds the whole building. This old fortified city owes its long existence to its strategic position on the heights of a hill. Thus, the existence of Brigueuil is attested from Antiquity. As you explore the streets of the town, you will discover the remains of the surrounding walls, the entrance gates to the town and the castle which has been altered many times. The local shops are an opportunity to stock up on food and stop to refresh yourself at the café.

The thermal baths of Chassenon date from the Gallo-Roman period. They were settled in the town of Cassinomagus, bordered by the via Aggripa, a road which then linked Saintes to Lyon.
