Valloire, located in Savoy at the foot of the Col du Galibier, has ancient origins linked to the name "Vallis Aurea" (Golden Valley) dating back to the 11th century.

Beautiful mountain village between the Tèlègraphe and the Galibier.

Every year, a straw sculpture competition is held in Valloire. Artists from all over the world participate. Their works are on display all summer long. They are magnificent in their verdant mountain setting. The photos presented here are of a few works from the 2025 competition. There are many more to discover. Self-guided tour and parking nearby. It is possible to walk from Valloire via the hiking trail that runs along the Valoirette. Allow about 1 hour for families.
