This metal suspension bridge connects the two forested sides of the Creuse River, offering stunning views of the river flowing below.

Just before the bridge, you'll find this playful artwork filled with fish: pike, carp, roach… All captured in ceramic instead of a net.

Along the river, you suddenly come across this old stone bridge with its wooden walkway. The walls are covered in moss, the water flows gently beneath, and picnic tables along the bank invite you to take a break.

Fresselines Castle, with its turrets and red tiled roofs, suddenly appears among the trees. It contrasts beautifully with the green of the valley. The view feels almost staged. Not surprising, as this village once inspired painters like Monet. A place where you'll naturally pause for a moment (and probably grab your camera).

In a word: beautiful. A breathtaking setting with stunning hiking trails, the ruins, the river, the rocks, and enchanting trails. One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever taken.

Friends with Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro, and Vincent van Gogh, Guillaumin lived in Crozant in the Creuse department (Limousin region) from 1892 onward, the adopted home of numerous other artists, which is the subject of well over one hundred of his paintings. Armand Guillaumin died in 1927 at the age of 86, the last surviving representative of the Impressionist group.
