Lake Chambon was formed following the eruption of the Tartaret volcano. You can see the Tartaret, the Couze valley, and in the background, the Sancy massif.

Small town with a bakery and supermarket. The castle on the hill opposite is definitely worth a visit.

Murol is a French commune with 640 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2021) in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It belongs to the Arrondissement of Issoire and the canton of Le Sancy. Lake Chambon owes its origin to a volcanic flow that obstructed the Couze Chambon. Beaches are set up on the northern and western parts of the lake but it is possible to go around it to enjoy the calm of nature on the southern banks.
