6月 23, 2025, Scenic Secondary Road to Col de la Madeleine
Please note, this section will be closed in late June and early July 2025, as they resurface the route for the Women's Tour de France! The closure is announced at the very bottom of the valley, but it's not easy to see...

Very nice secondary road to go up to St François Longchamp, much better than the normal road

You literally lose count of the tornanti you overcome. The best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) is the total coverage by trees and vegetation. On hot days it is appreciated. The absence of views makes it tougher mentally. When this stretch of tornanti is overcome, we also leave the forest behind and see the Arves massif in its splendor.

Spectacular port on all its sides. The most famous slope is the one that goes up through Les Lacets de Montvernier. Once this section is over, there are about 10 km of constant climbing with very beautiful views of the Maurienne valley.

Very nice pass in the wake of the ascent of the laces of Montverniet.

Absolutely brilliant start, with us (September) the street was reserved for bikes only. A dream. We then continued down to St. Jean de Maurienne and on the other side up to the Col de la Croix de Fer / Col du Glandon.

Most beautiful climb in the area, little to no traffic and a fantastic serpentine road.

The dream uphill, as you can enjoy the view in every curve. Once at the top, continue the tour over the Madeleine. Top location. Better not go downhill.

I would currently only recommend the road for driving up. It is in poor condition and actually few cars come uncomfortably close here and there on the bumpy, narrow track

The cherry on the cake after the Lacets de Montvernier! Heaps of dreams!

There are also 20 Tornante up to Alta Prada on Lago di Garda. Then continue towards Monte Baldo. Unbelievably passable in both directions

An absolute classic. The climb is worth it. The roads are great and the view is just great!
