The Col de Chaussy connects Pontamafrey 4 km west of St-Jean-de-Maurienne with the south ramp of the Col de la Madeleine. From the south (Pontamafrey) coming over the Montvernier serpentine road are about 1000 meters to overcome.

Summit after the Lacets of Montvernier. Off the main routes and up a fairly quiet street. Pulls, however, and is always steeper. The increase is a bit more demanding.

Spectacular port on all its sides. The most famous slope is the one that goes up through Les Lacets de Montvernier. Once this section is over, there are about 10 km of constant climbing with very beautiful views of the Maurienne valley.
