This greenway is horrible, in places it is just a forest path... not to mention the chestnuts that inner tubes love.

The abbey dedicated to Saint Savin must once have been so important that it gave the whole place its name.

The abbey is inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List due to its comprehensive and well-preserved collection of Romanesque wall paintings. It is worth visiting just for that. The abbey site has been occupied since at least the 9th century.
