This is the fastest way, perhaps the only one in the area, to cross the AUDE. From the MOUSSOULENS Lock (Robine Canal) to the GAILHOUSTY Lock (Junction Canal).

The old unused railway bridge over the l'Aude is a real adventure. The bridge has not been used for a long time, but can be used by pedestrians and bikers. It immediately creates a Wild West atmosphere.

For the crossing from time to time, the SNCF blocks the passage with fences or others, but it is quickly reopened by people who are responsible for freeing access. We can't wait for the SNCF to release the ownership of this bridge so that the municipalities can make it a greenway.

On one side there are indeed very steep steps but passing on the other side there is a concrete stone ramp which makes it easier to access it than the steep staircase.

I would have loved to cross this bridge but you have to climb very steep steps with panniers, it's impossible to carry without taking everything down, but especially when you get to the top there are barbed wire, a railway line and lots of signs prohibiting passage. .. maybe it's new?

If you like altitude, this is the place for you. Small hill at 120m. Greetings Marcus
