Sassinoro is a little-known village, but well worth a visit for the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. It stands on a rocky promontory at an altitude of 783 m, in the heart of the stunning Tammaro Valley.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna Incoronata, built in 1761, stands in a rural area linked to the historic wheat festival, one of the most characteristic rituals of the Fortore area. Every April, farmers and young people of the village dig furrows in the fields and carry the "verghe" (long poles decorated with wheat and flowers) in procession. In ancient times, this was followed by the release of a dove as a propitiatory gesture for the harvest. This tradition combines ancient agricultural symbols with Marian devotion, making the sanctuary a deeply rooted place for San Bartolomeo in Galdo.

The Lucera-Castel di Sangro Tratturo is one of the great transhumance sheep tracks, an ancient grassy trail over one hundred kilometers long that connected the Tavoliere di Puglia to the high-altitude pastures of Abruzzo. In this stretch, the sheep track marks the border between Campania and Puglia and still retains its original breadth, with open fields, low walls, and intact rural landscapes. It is one of the most important historical shepherds' routes, a cultural corridor that recounts centuries of seasonal migrations and agro-pastoral life.

Santa Croce del Sannio is one of the highest villages in the Benevento area, overlooking the Tammaro Valley with views that extend to the Apennines. The historic center retains its medieval layout with stone alleys, small squares, and ancient rural houses. Climbing up to this point offers a privileged view of the hilly Sannio landscape and the network of sheep tracks and pastures that characterize the area.

The Campolattaro Lake Oasis is one of the most important natural areas in Sannio, managed by the WWF and characterized by a large artificial lake surrounded by woods, pastures, and wetlands. It is an ideal habitat for wildlife observation: herons, night herons, birds of prey, and many migratory species find a resting place here during the transit seasons. The scenic viewpoints along the shore offer expansive views of the lake and the Tammaro hills.

The Volturno Springs mark the beginning of the longest river in southern Italy: the water flows from a karst cavity at the foot of the Meta massif, forming clear and always cold natural pools. The site is immersed in a peaceful, wooded environment, with walkways and observation points that allow visitors to get up close to the springs.

Located in the heart of the historic center, this mural dedicated to hot air balloons celebrates one of Fragneto Monforte's most recognizable features: the famous International Hot Air Balloon Festival, which has colored the Sannio skies every autumn since 1987. The work depicts children, light figures, and hot air balloons flying over stylized hills, evoking the sense of wonder and freedom that characterizes the gathering.

The Ducal Palace of Fragneto Monforte is the village's iconic building, the former residence of the Montalto family, who ruled the area for centuries. The current structure dates largely to the 18th century and retains elegant rooms, internal courtyards, and panoramic views of the valley. The palace is linked to the legend of the painting of the Madonna della Rondinella, which miraculously remained intact despite fires and historical events.
