If you take a closer look around the area around the black chalk pit, you'll discover even more interesting things. Following the path along the west side of the pit, you'll find a megalithic tomb surrounded by trees called the "Devil's Oven." North of it, in the forest, you'll find another tomb known locally as the "Devil's Baking Trough." Both tombs were built in the Neolithic period, around 4000 BC.
