8月 24, 2025, Burg Reipoltskirchen
Reipoltskirchen Castle is one of the best-preserved moated castles in the Palatinate region, picturesquely perched above the Odenbach River. Originally built in the 12th century, it served as a noble residence for centuries and has been rebuilt several times. Today, the castle houses a restaurant and offers visitors a fascinating insight into medieval architecture combined with modern elements. Particularly impressive is the massive keep, which serves as an observation tower and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Glan Valley and the surrounding forests. A visit is worthwhile for both history buffs and nature lovers, who can enjoy both culture and landscape here. ✨ Tip: 👉 A climb up the castle tower rewards you with a magnificent view – especially atmospheric at sunset.

8月 24, 2025, Information Boards Reipoltskirchen
Directly at the start of the hike, several large information boards welcome visitors to Reipoltskirchen. They offer a concise overview of the town's most important sights, including the imposing moated castle, the Catholic Church of St. John Nepomuk, and the remains of a Roman villa rustica. They also explain the variety of hiking trails around the town – from the Sculpture Trail and the Veldenz Trail to smaller adventure trails. Particularly exciting is the insight into the "Art in the Green" project and the Sculpture Trail, which combine culture and nature in a unique way. This provides orientation right from the start and offers plenty of inspiration for further discoveries in the town and its surroundings. ✨ Tip: Take a few minutes to read – the boards will help you more consciously perceive the highlights of the hike.

The early 14th-century civic tower once served, in addition to its defensive function, as a debtors' prison on its second floor when a debtor couldn't pay or provide a reliable guarantor. Drunkards, rioters, adulterers, and parents whose children were truant from school also received a short "tower punishment." Until the end of the 17th century, a circular enclosure preceded the tower.

4月 3, 2024, The Lower Gate (Das Untertor), Meisenheim
On the left side of the tower, a staircase leads to the battlement. The tower keeper lived on the top floor and had to watch over the peace of the city. If guests wanted to enter at night, he had to call the mayor, because only in his presence was he allowed to lower the drawbridge and open the small entrance gate. 3月 15, 2024, View of Meisenheim from Keym-Blick
Keym look You have climbed 53 of 10b steps so far. Now you can take a breather and enjoy the Keym view. Here you are standing on an approximately 80 m high rock, which was largely created by the sliding of rock masses. The Glan, as innocent as he seems from up here, played a part in this. The last major rockfall occurred in 2005. The path below the rock had to be closed forever. Many have that Meisenheimer is very sorry. That's why the former mayor Werner Keym had this viewing point built as compensation, so to speak. Now everyone can at least enjoy the beautiful view from here. The rock is something special, which is why it was placed under nature protection in 1992. These are rocks from the Jeckenbacher layers of the Unterrotlegen, which were formed around 296-292 Mill. The layers consist of alternating layers of sandstone, siltstone and mudstone. Rare fossils have been found in some rock layers, such as the prehistoric shark Xenacanthus Meisenheimensis, which is now exhibited in the GEOSKOP environmental museum at Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel.
