From the southeastern shore of Lake Malchow, there is an impressive view of the former Malchow Monastery, situated on a small hill on the opposite shore. The striking red brick buildings with their tall church towers dominate the town's panorama and, when the water is calm, are atmospherically reflected in the lake. The former Magdalene Convent, later a Cistercian monastery and finally a noble women's convent, is now an important cultural monument. The viewing point on the lakeshore is easily accessible via the cycling and hiking path and invites you to take a short rest with a view of the historic skyline of Old Malchow.

The tour is very connected to nature and yet the route is easy to ride.....

If you like fish you must visit Vioala & Holger in the fish snack bar at the lift bridge 👍😋 but from September 2026 they will be in well-deserved retirement 😢

The Malchow Monastery Art Museum presents works of art in historically restored rooms and offers an impressive experience of regional art history. The monastery's former refectory houses the works and study of the Malchow-born artist Rudolf Gahlbeck (1895–1972), as well as works by Sieghard Dittner (1924–2002), who lived in Malchow for many years; Friedrich-Franz Pingel (1904–1994), also born in Malchow; and Peter Hesse (1921–2008).
