プリッターズドルフのアルトラインは、19世紀のライン川改修（ライン川直線化とも呼ばれる）により、本流から切り離されたライン川の旧河床です。 現在、アルトラインはプリッターズドルフ近郊のライン川の氾濫原にある、静かで、ほとんどゆっくり流れるか淀んだ水域です。周囲は河畔林、牧草地、小さな水面で囲まれています。この自然に近い景観は、サギや白鳥などの鳥類、さまざまな魚類など、多くの動植物に重要な生息地を提供しています。 かつてライン川はプリッターズドルフのすぐそばを流れ、しばしば洪水を起こしていました。改修により河川の流路が変更され、アルトラインは古いライン川の「残り」として保存されました。現在では、主に生態学的な重要性を持ち、人々のレクリエーションエリアとしても利用されています。

This is where the Sauer River, coming from the Vosges Mountains, flows into the Rhine. The estuary delta is a large floodplain with a wide variety of amphibians and birds – protected since 1997.

“There are pictures that say “swimming is forbidden” because of danger to life. Does anyone know more??” Locals haven't noticed the signs yet. I recently asked the question to someone I met there.

the beach marked here is NOT public but private (club, Paddelclub Illingen). Entering is tolerated at most. If you want to sunbathe or swim here, you run the risk of being sent away.

The Sauer Delta nature reserve is an idyllic setting for cycling. The alluvial forest that composes it offers a dream habitat with a particularly rich biodiversity. In particular, ash, oak, elm and white poplar are found on the tree species side. The fauna is home to a great ornithological wealth, with 183 listed species, including 77 nesting ones.
