Beautiful historical site right on the hiking trail.

Built in the 15th century, on either side of the old path called "de Charlemagne" which went from Chantonnay to Sigournais. The mansion comprises 2 pavilions 30-40m apart, pierced with vaulted porches and spanning the municipal road. Part of this manor was burnt down during the vendée wars. Today, the castle offers guest rooms.

Puybelliard's past: From the 15th century, the small town of Puybelliard played an important commercial role. Under the old halls (of which there are no more traces today) fairs were held which were recognized throughout the region and which attracted a large population. Sometimes come from afar. Charming village which has preserved its heritage, castles, abbey of Braudière, Maison des Tourelles, streets of the Venelle and the ramparts....etc

This set (laundry and fountain) is also complete with a drinking trough. These monuments are dated from the 18th century. An overflow system supplies the various basins. At the wash house, the water flows through a small channel. The surplus is then collected in tanks. It is used to water the hundred plots that make up the "lower gardens". These gardens belonged to inhabitants who did not have enough land to own an orchard or vegetable garden adjacent to their property.
