The Château de Brissac is the first of the seventeen Loire châteaux that we visited to truly move us. This castle, still inhabited by the Duke and Duchess of Brissac, is in a very good state of conservation, exceptional! Very impressive local food and wine within 100metres of the castle, at 2 Terraces restaurant. I atr slowly cooked pork with cooked cherries, which was amazing as was the razorshell and vegetable stir fry.

Several morning and afternoon tours. Interesting facts about the Marshals of France who lived here in the 16th century. Stunning rooms, ceilings, paintings, furniture and views related mainly to the 16th Century. Still lived in by an aristocratic family , including their 4 children, with a recent grandiose marriage. Free wine tasting of their own local white , rose and red wines....the red and cabernet rosé were decent wines.

Brissac Castle is located in the French town of Brissac-Quincé, around 15 kilometers south of Angers. The château has seven floors and 204 rooms and is nicknamed the "giant of the Loire" (Wikipedia).
