In the town of Saint-Etienne de Tinée, in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, the Vens Lakes refuge offers a mountain setting typical of the Maritime Alps. The Vens refuge is located in one of the most prestigious places in the Mercantour Park. It is located in an environment of natural lakes, waterfalls in an old glacial cirque, rich alpine meadows and varied fauna (mountain sheep, chamois, eagles, etc.).

In a pretty renovated farmhouse perched at 1852 m, the Refuge de la Pare welcomes us in the heart of a larch forest, access can be on foot or by bike. It is a quiet accommodation that can accommodate 18 people in 3 bedrooms, the refuge is ideal for hiking activities due to its proximity to the GR 56 and many passes and peaks around.

Bivouac near the Apzoi lake, it was built in 1987 and is at 2330 meters above sea level. It has about ten beds, and can be reached in two hours from the Maira springs

The refuge is guarded during the summer months, but access to the refuge is open all year round. It is best to check with the Saint-Etienne-de-Tinnée tourist office if you intend to use it or stay there. It has a fire and a supply of wood in the main room and a dormitory with mattresses and blankets. A contribution of 8€ is requested and can be paid on the website.
