Traboules are hidden passages and corridors that allow you to walk long distances away from the street. This allows you to take shortcuts or walk parallel to the street. You walk through hallways, courtyards and stairwells, all of which are connected to each other. Large and very many traboules can be found in Lyon. They are a relic of Lyon's past and are mainly found on the Croix Rousse mountain and in the old town of Vieux Lyon.
