In 1435, during the Hundred Years' War, the English ravaged the region but were defeated at Beynes. The village was successfully defended by Guillaume de l'Estandart, aided by the Beynes garrison who came to lend him a hand. He attacked the English near the Carcassonne farm and routed them. The site of the battle is now called "prise aux anglais". A column erected in 1845, on the edge of the Couperie road in Beynes bears this inscription: "Under Charles VII, the Beynes garrison defeated the enemy and this place is called la Prise aux Anglais".

This portion of the river has been redesigned and replanted to match a more natural route. Footbridges, a pedestrian path, and observation of flora and fauna make it a pleasant place to explore.

The site of the church has hosted several religious buildings modified over time since the 13th century. But it was in 1856 that the building was completely rebuilt to give rise to the current Catholic church.

A beautiful coast, however there are sometimes a lot of cars, do not hesitate to test its parallel which is much calmer and steeper!
