At the tip of the fortified spur of Crépy-en-Valois, the former Saint-Arnoul priory (founded in the 10th century, which became a Benedictine abbey and then an important Cluniac priory in 1076) suffered heavy damage during the Hundred Years' War, particularly during the sack of 1434.
