It's a beautiful park with lots of information for all ages. To see the animals, you should attend feedings, as these shy creatures are otherwise in hiding.

In 1910, a power plant was commissioned next to the sawmill, the first in the Uelzen district after the town of Uelzen. It supplied Wieren with 220 V direct current until 1950, and the neighboring town of Drohe until 1929. Eel fishing was plentiful at the weir between the mill and sawmill. The old watermill in the heart of the community has become known as the "Light Miracle of Wieren." First mentioned in 1330, it was an important milling site between Uelzen and Wittingen. In 1788, the mill building was rebuilt on its current site. Previously, the mill had stood on the site where the bridges now cross the floodplains. The front mill pond was also created at this time through the artificial embankment on the west side. The higher reservoir height enabled continuous milling.

The nave was probably built from fieldstone in the 12th century, while the choir, made of bricks in monastery format, was not added until 1433. The Gothic interior was completed in 1464, with a Gothic winged altar forming the centerpiece. The wooden bell tower was first documented in 1657; it supports the bell cast in 2008.

The Old Church or St. James's Church in Wieren, a district of the municipality of Wrestedt in the Uelzen district, is an old fieldstone church, but its choir is also a work of brick Gothic architecture. It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Lehmke-Wieren in the Uelzen church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover.
