It was presumably erected in 1826 according to the plans of Mr. von Cocy. "Twelve horses were needed to haul these beautiful columns up the Naheweg," one of the old residents told the chronicler, who recorded this around 1911 to 1920. The gate was last renovated in 2014. unfortunately hardly any water comes through...difficult to siphon off... But it swells around the fountain... the water is probably looking for new paths...

Absolutely recommendable, a round through the beautiful place with its historic buildings.

Monzingen was first mentioned in a document in 788. However, finds have proven that there was an earlier settlement by the Celts (800-600 BC) and Romans.
