On the outskirts of Monacia-d'Aullène, the old village offers a real journey through time with its stone houses typical of southern Corsica. Nestled in the heart of wild landscapes, between mountains and scrubland, this preserved hamlet exudes authenticity and tranquility. The narrow streets wind between the buildings, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Beautiful hike through a holm oak and chestnut forest. The paths were washed out by the heavy rain from the previous day, but were easy to walk on.

For some, building another small stone man - also called a stone tower - is a kind of puzzle or pastime, others may even set their ambition on building the tallest of this kind. Whatever the motive: you can always find some of these stone, but certainly ephemeral works of art - both in the mountains and here, on the Corsican beach of the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean region is known for its world of gods, which dates back to ancient, pre-Christian times. At least the corresponding names from Greek and Roman mythology have survived to this day. This stretch of coast on Corsica, the “Plage la Venus”, was named after the Roman goddess of beauty and love: VENUS, the foam-born woman who rises from the sea. Her Greek counterpart is the goddess APHRODITE in the local world of legends.

Beautiful bay and not so crowded.

Superb walk, the last part climbs steeply but it's worth it. Left at 7 a.m. we were still very hot 🥵 paths and superb landscapes

Another Oriu to be discovered on the circular trail.

The walk is not very complicated, bring a swimsuit and something to drink, especially if it is hot. Definitely worth a swim :-)
