The tower was built between 1483 and 1487 and was severely damaged in a fire in 1910. Since 1927, the Old Tower, a relic of the former fortification, has housed the Haslach Heimathaus (Haslach Local History Museum).

From Aigen, it's only a few kilometers to the Bohemian Forest at an altitude of about 750 - 1000m, where the temperatures are pleasant in summer. Forest as far as the eye can see, which makes cycling particularly fun.
