最初は、シュレム運河が分水嶺を越えるという表現が誤解を招くと思いましたが、木材を閘門で持ち上げる必要があったのか疑問に思いました。今、理解しました：運河はオーストリアから離れたボヘミアの森の側面を、ほぼ水平に斜面に沿って横切っています。そしてこの場所で、ボヘミアの森の尾根は横から大きく下がり、運河はその（細長い）山の周りを迂回しています。（そして、まだわずかに下り坂ですが、分水嶺を越えています...） わずかな距離で、シュタイン・オズワルトを過ぎてハスラッハに向かう方がはるかに急になります。 1790年代であることを考えると、驚くべき建造物です！
