The bronze sculpture of a woman smoking a cigarette is one of the famous female sculptures created by Fernando Botero. His modern bronze sculptures are known for their disproportionate body volumes, and this bronze female sculpture reflects his style. On August 27, 2012, the famous Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero's "Smoking Woman" work was placed in Cafesjian's "sculpture garden" in the Cascade complex, Yerevan. The sculpture was created in 1987. The sculpture of Yerevan is one of the copies. Unlike Botero's previous works in Yerevan, this sculpture was criticized by many residents, for whom it was unusual to see a naked smoking woman in the center of their capital. But over time, residents got used to the statue.

Swan Lake is one of the most famous sights in Yerevan. It is located right in the heart of the city, in a beautiful green garden. The author of the Swan Lake project is the famous architect Gevorg Musheghyan. The lake was named "Swan" in honor of Tchaikovsky's ballet of the same name because the lake is located near the National Academic Ballet Theater. Moreover, in the warm seasons of the year, you can see swans swimming in the lake, and in winter Swan Lake turns into an open skating ring.

The statue of Martiros Saryan is located in the center of Yerevan, in Martiros Saryan park, between Zoryan street, Marshal Baghramyan, and Mashtots avenues. The statue was erected in 1986. Not really spectacular, but nice to walk around in the evening when the lights are on.

Republic Square consists of two sections. One consists of an oval roundabout with a stone pattern in the middle, which looks like a traditional Armenian carpet from above. The second, trapezoidal section is decorated with a fountain with a water organ in front of the museum building. The square is surrounded by five main buildings made of pink and yellow tuff with a basalt base. The neoclassical style buildings display many Armenian motifs. When I visited, there were water games ("light-sound water show") almost every evening from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., accompanied by music (classical music and pop music are represented). The water fountains are highlighted in color. The “performances” are free and Armenians come to the event in droves. The facility is cleaned every three days and then the evening performance is canceled. You can tell because the fountain system is dry underground. Otherwise, an evening visit is definitely worth it.

The building is the seat of the Government of Armenia (the Council of Ruling Ministers, not the executive branch). It was originally the seat of the Council of People's Commissars of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic (the executive branch of Soviet Armenia). The northwest part was built between 1926 and 1929 according to plans by Alexander Tamanian. The remaining parts were designed in 1938 by Gevorg Tamanian, Alexander's son, who completed the construction in 1941. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platz_der_Republik_(Yerewan) Parliament is in a different location... The building is illuminated at night and is therefore particularly worth seeing.

Victory Park (Armenian: «Հաղթանակ» զբոսայգի Haght'anak zbosaygi), is a public park located in the Kanaker-Zeytun District of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The construction of the park was launched during the late 1930s as the "Arabkir city park", within the frames of the development of the Nor Arabkir neighbourhood at the north of Yerevan; the capital of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. After the Great Patriotic War, the park was renamed "Victory Park", commemorating the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany at the Eastern Front of World War II. After the war, the Victory Park was opened on November 29, 1950, at the 30th anniversary of the Sovietization of Armenia. On the same day, a 17-meters high copper statue of Joseph Stalin designed by People's Artist of the USSR Sergey Merkurov was erected in the park, while the basalt-stoned pedestal of the statue was designed by another People's Artist of the USSR Rafayel Israyelian. In 1962, the statue of Stalin was dismantled, and replaced by the monumental statue of Mother Armenia in 1967, designed by architect Ara Harutyunyan. In 1970, a museum dedicated to Armenia's role in the Great Patriotic War was opened within the pedestal of the statue. However in 1995, it was turned into the Military Museum of Armenia governed by the Ministry of Defence. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Park,_Yerevan

Yerevan became the capital of the Armenian SSR and underwent significant development. Under the architect Alexander Tamanjan the cityscape was radically changed. Many historical buildings, such as churches, mosques, the Persian fortress, baths, bazaars and caravanserais were demolished. You can clearly see Mount Ararat from here on a few days a year. Unfortunately, that's not often the case - if you see it, consider yourself lucky. But the view of the city is also beautiful.
