This Vosges sandstone railway viaduct spans the Zorn Valley, the Marne-Rhine Canal, and the road below. Built in the 19th century for the Paris-Strasbourg line, it originally had five arches – hence its local name in the dialect, "5 Torre" (five arches). Destroyed during the Second World War, it was rebuilt with only three arches. From the towpath, the bridge offers a superb view, especially when its reflection forms a perfect circle in the canal water. With a bit of luck, you might even see a train pass overhead.

The wooden flooring is a bit dated. It's a very complex construction.

On the edge of the Lock Keepers' Valley, a discreet doorway nestled in the vegetation... and suddenly, a parallel world. Damp stones, a narrow corridor, raking light, slowly flowing water: everything here seems suspended. 🕯️ A place forgotten by time, between functional architecture and an almost cinematic atmosphere. 📍 A hidden passage... to be discovered on foot. A flashlight is not necessary, but curiosity is recommended.

Nestled in a green setting, the Trois Bacs washhouse is a place steeped in history and serenity. This old washhouse was still in use after the First World War. It consists of three stone basins approximately 3 meters long, fed by a spring renowned for the purity of its water, once used... to dilute the local schnapps! Also known as "D'Onderbrunne," it was part of a network of washhouses in the valley and served the locals, especially the women of the village, who washed their clothes there. Today, although the aprons have disappeared, the place retains its charm. A shelter with benches and tables has been installed nearby, making it an ideal spot for a picnic break surrounded by nature. 🧭 Accessible from the forest trails around Saint-Louis (particularly via the Rocher du Calice), it is a peaceful point of interest, perfect for recharging your batteries, alone or with friends. 🌿 A peaceful atmosphere, shaded surroundings, and clear, fresh water: a place to discover and preserve!

We "landed" here in the parking lot with our RV. Thanks to the organizers for the free offer. We took a short walk around the boat lift, then visited the glass factory exhibition... some really cool things there... worth seeing. We spontaneously bought a birthday present and a souvenir of our own.

Be careful, it's VERY slippery when wet. I was thrown in a bend.
