Chantilly is not only known for its "top-notch" horse racing, but also for its royal imperial châteaux, its racecourse, and its reputation as the capital of horses! It is the largest training center in Europe. Chantilly is known for the quality of its training facilities. The racecourse's historic grandstands were built in 1881, and there are numerous stables and training centers. More than 3,000 racehorses are trained daily in Chantilly and the surrounding area. Surrounded by beautiful forests and directly opposite the magnificent château.

40.2 km long, the river has its source in Nanteuil-le-Haudouin (Oise), and flows from east to west. It waters the town of Senlis, as well as the park of the Château de Chantilly where it is channeled, and flows into the Oise at Gouvieux, on the edge of Villers-sous-Saint-Leu, at an altitude of 30 m. Senlis is a small town steeped in history with the impressive Notre-Dame and other beautiful churches. Good shoes are essential on cobblestone streets. There are very nice boutiques and regional specialty shops, brasseries. The castle of Chantilly (8 km) and this town can be visited easily by bike. Parking is free in Senlis. There is a very nice weekly market on Tuesdays and Fridays.
