This church is nicknamed "'t Kerkje onder d'n diek". The church also suffered water damage during the flood of 1953; including damage to the walls and furniture. The insides of the walls were placed against the old walls.

Bruinisse could well be called the ‘mussel village’ of Schouwen-Duiveland. The 'large mussel' in the harbor is a fine example of this. A beautiful location to have your picture taken with a mussel.
