I took a detour and followed a path marked by black lines in the komoot map. It quickly became too boggy to be rideable.

in photo you would think it was 2 bridges but is only one, with the low clouds the reflection looks like it is a 100m down the river

The Slacks is a hill within the Kilpatrick Hills just north of Glasgow. It rises to an elevation of around 365 metres and offers panoramic views of the city of Glasgow, River Clyde and surrounding landscape.

Balloch is known as the gateway to the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. It's well-connected to Glasgow by train, making it a popular destination for a day trip. There are a nice selection of shops and places to eat, activity providers and the restored paddle steamer, Maid of the Loch, is moored here.

The Kilpatrick Hills are a great place to get away and escape from it all. The walk up to Loch Humphrey is a case in point, this winding track is a super good hiking trail or for mountain biking. Expect superb urban views over Glasgow with the meandering river view of the Clyde the higher you go up.

A small, pretty castle in the park. The building cannot be visited from the inside, but is very photogenic from the outside.

The path runs along the southern shore of Loch Lomond with lovely views of the loch. There are also a few benches for a picnic.

Ducks and swans and many other birds. They get up close and personal too.

Loved getting to the water. So many little beaches for paddling your feet.

The River Leven (Uisge Leamhna in Gaelic) is a stretch of water in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, flowing from Loch Lomond in the North to the River Clyde in the South. The river is about 6 miles (10 kilometres) long.

Loch Lomond is the largest lake in Britain by surface area, it's formed on the highland boundary fault and is within the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. For a runner the trails around the loch are great, you can run shorts loops from Balloch or the whole east coast on the West Highland Way.

The original Balloch Castle was built in the 11th century and extensively re-built and improved in the 13th century. By the 19th century when John Buchanan bought the estate it was a ruin. He demolished what was left and built the current Tudor Gothic style castle. In 1915 Balloch Castle and the surrounding estate was bought by Glasgow City Council. It became a designated country park in 1980 and part of the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park in 2002. Today the surrounding gardens, park land and wider estate are open to the public. There is a nice network of paths and trails that are great for a run. You can also extend a route up to nearby Knockour Hill.
